Sadly the Saturday side has been withdrawn from the league, owing to falling player numbers available on Saturdays.
Some friendly fixtures will be arranged for occasional Saturdays throughout the season, which will be announced in due course.
The Sunday league side and colts continue at full strength, so there is much to play for.
Look to the future!
Earls Colne recorded there first win of the season with a 91 run victory against Kelvedon, having lost the toss and been invited to bat, Earls colne struggled early on loosening Harry Callaghan and Daryl. Sleeman . A good partnership between Chris Abrehart and Sean Butler soon put colne on 55 for two it must be said that Chris was given out lbw but was called back by the Kelvedon wIcket keeper as he was ajudged to have had an inside edge. Very sporting of Kelvedon! This brought vice captain Jon Brewer to the wicket who scored a good 38, Hayns departed for five with ollie and Taylor going for 5 between them but supporting Jon well. Finally JB departed having played a great innings. This left Joe smith ,making his debut in the Mickey Mouse side with a glorious lofted drive for six before departing the very next ball. David Abrehart and Ben mason scored a usefull partnership of twenty before departing. Colne all out for 166.
Hayns opened with. Mason and Abrehart, David soon had his first wicket with Hayns moving Sleeman to short mid wicket to take a smart catch, Jon brewer took the catch of the day with a great low one handed catch at point. And David clean bowled hope for his third wicket, butler took the next wicket with a clean bowled effort. And Kelvedon were 28 for four the collapse continued with Daryl Sleeman taking two wickets, Jon brewer claimed a wicket to continue his impressive day. But for me the joy of the day was seeing our two u13 colts getting three wickets for 22 runs off 6 overs well done Taylor 3 overs 2 wickets for ten and Ollie Callaghan 3 overs 1 for 12. A great team effort resulted in a 91 run victory
