Chappel & Wakes Colne came visiting on a lovely summer day.
Colne elected to bowl first but Chappel made easy work of things with an opening stand of 62 in just 12 overs by Hadcock & Taylor. But the wickets finally started to fall. Chintesh Patel took a couple of wickets, Russ Dawes bowled beatifully taking 4 – 9 and young debutant Liam Jones also took two wickets with some very tidy legspin. Chappel looked like thay might be all out for less than 100, but a late rally took them to 121 all out.
After a BBQ tea, Colne helped to make a game of it by losing three quick wickets, with a run out, and an unfortunate played-on among the debris. But Taylor Nicholson played calmly in partnership with Daryl Sleeman, and the repair work was underway. After Taylor departed for an accomplished 20, Tony Hayns hit a quick 21. Daryl avoided a jug by being bowled for 46, but we were close to the line. A few quick blows from Russel Dawes and Ben Mason saw us to a victory by 4 wickets.
